About Me
Hello and welcome!

I'm Marya. I was born in Washington, D.C. and I love designing beautiful spaces in and around the nation's capital (as well as the occasional vacation home).
I have a BA from the University of Richmond, an interior design degree from Marymount University, and have studied art and architecture at Lorenzo de Medici art institute in Florence, Italy as well as the Corcoran College of Art here in Washington.

In my free time, I love seeing live music with my husband, exploring museums and parks with my three kids, and relaxing at home with my dog and a good book.
What I've Done
I got my start in the design world in 2005 working for a luxury European fabric showroom at the Washington Design Center. I was then fortunate to work for several years at a highly-regarded Washington residential interiors firm with a wonderful lead designer as a mentor. From there I went on to manage the interiors projects for an award-winning architecture firm in Bethesda for several years, before finally starting my own business in 2016.

In addition to experience in high-end fabrics and furnishings, my time working alongside talented architects on custom home builds gave me an extensive education in designing millwork, kitchens, bathrooms, and special insight into all phases of the construction process. I now utilize that knowledge to guide clients through all stages of their projects.
What I Do
I started Karlton Kelly Interiors with the goal of bringing highly customized design and exceptional service to a small number of clients at a time. I pride myself on bringing out a client's personal style and meeting their specific design goals, all while creating spaces that are both functional in layout, and beautiful and comfortable in feel. I tailor the whole process to work with each client's individual schedule, budget, and unique vision for their home.
