Welcome to KKI
Hello there!
My name is Marya (pronounced like Mariah) and I have been designing interiors for almost twenty years. I was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Great Falls, Virginia. I studied foreign languages and art history at the University of Richmond, before completing a post-grad degree in interior design from Marymount. I love all aspects of design from construction and space planning, down to the finishing details of fabrics and art selection.

I live in Arlington, Virginia with my husband, two sons, one daughter, and our little senior dog.
I started my design career working for a highly-regarded Washington residential interiors firm with a wonderful lead designer as a mentor. From there, I went on to manage the interiors projects for an award-winning architecture firm in Bethesda, before finally starting my own business in 2016.

My time working alongside architects and builders on custom luxury homes gave me an extensive education in designing millwork, kitchens, bathrooms, and special insight into all phases of the construction process. I now utilize that knowledge and expertise to guide clients through all stages of their projects.
Karlton Kelly Interiors was started with the goal of bringing highly customized design and exceptional service to a small number of clients at a time. I pride myself on bringing out a client's personal style and meeting their specific design goals, all while creating spaces that are both functional in layout, and beautiful and comfortable in feel. The whole process is tailored to work with each client's individual schedule, budget, and unique vision for their home.
